With the American League down to its final pitch and final out on the night of July 11 in Pittsburgh, Michael Young of the Rangers laced a Trevor Hoffman pitch for a two-run triple that won the 77th All-Star Game, 3-2. Young received the Arch Ward Trophy as the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player of the Midsummer Classic.
